After the “Scale is Dying” post, a few people asked a fair question: doesn't CAD software already solve this? So I went back and looked properly at how ArchiCAD, AutoCAD and SketchUp handle dimensions.
All three can attach accurate dimensions to elements and keep them updated as a design changes, and some automate parts of the process. But dimensioning is still a separate task, bolted onto the drawing rather than built into it - one that needs real software expertise, and a series of deliberate choices about what to show and what to leave out.
A plan rarely carries every measurement every trade will need.
That's the real problem. A builder, a plumber, an electrician and a carpenter are each asking a different question of the same drawing, and no single plan is annotated for all of them. More often than not, someone ends up back at a printed drawing with a scale ruler, measuring it out by hand.
Built for the person who renovates once, not every day
Reno is built for people who renovate occasionally and shouldn't need professional software training to get a measurement they can trust. Every wall, item and space gets its dimensions automatically the moment it's placed, in whichever unit you're working in.

Measurements anyone can get to, from a laptop or a phone
Because Reno runs in the browser rather than a desktop CAD package, anyone with the link can zoom in, pan round and click to measure, with nothing to install. Visibility depth lets you filter out whatever isn't relevant to the question being asked, so a plumber checking a pipe run isn't wading through lighting and furniture to find it.
Want to know how far a toilet sits from a wall, or how high a shower head should go? Zoom in to the elevation and it's already there.

We didn't set out to build a better CAD tool. We started from what someone actually planning a renovation needs, and worked back from there to make that information as easy to get to as possible.
