The questions people often ask about Reno, and the answers we usually give!
Does Reno have 3D?
No, right now Reno offers 2D planning only in order to keep things really simple and easy to use across all different devices and web browsers, and give you exact control down to the smallest details like socket positions, skirting board heights, tiles and panels on your walls. Beyond that, we've just introduced Reno's AI Photo Preview feature which we believe gives you the same benefits - a sense of depth, scale, and layout - making it easier to get a sense of what the end result could look like.
And even better than 3D renders, Reno's photo preview feature does a much better job of illustrating realistic textures, materials and even lighting, helping you see what different design choices will actually look like - allowing you to assess design decisions in context before committing to your choices.
You can check out the sort of results you get from Reno in our floor plan gallery.
Reno AI is experimental and will make mistakes. This feature is in Beta testing and subject to change based on performance and user feedback.
Does Reno support sloped ceilings / pitched roofs?
Yes, Reno's item library contains sloped and low ceiling items that allow you to represent your ceiling shape in your plan and elevation views to understand the impact it has on your space planning and structural and furniture choices.
Can I create an entire multi-room floor plan in Reno?
Yes, you can use a project to create a single room, a small group of rooms (like a bedroom and ensuite bathroom or a kitchen with a pantry) or a full floor of a home, it's really up to you.
There are some benefits to going room by room in that this allows you to create a much more detailed specification and a moodboard per room etc. which is particularly helpful when briefing trades and getting quotes.
One of the best ways we've seen the two combined is to have one project per room but to use the 'current floorplan' slot in each project to include the full floor plan showing how the rooms all connect together.
Do you offer a free trial?
We don't offer a free trial in the traditional sense right now, but you can still get a really good feel for Reno before subscribing. You can try out a pre-populated floor plan to see for yourself how easy the floor planner is to use. On our how to page you'll find videos of the app in action along with real examples of completed projects. And if you'd like design inspiration, our gallery shows what's possible from a layout and style perspective.
What's the difference between a project and a room?
We refer to “projects” rather than “rooms” for our trade and interior designer plans because we know every workflow is different. Each project is built around a single plan, but that plan can be as small as a single room, or as large as a full floor layout.
Ultimately, how you choose to structure your projects is up to you - the flexibility is there to suit your workflow.
Is there a way for me to explore different layout options?
Yes, each project allows you to explore 3 different layout options (one planned and 2 alternatives) before deciding on which one you want to go ahead with.
If you've got more than three ideas to explore (and have enough projects in your subscription plan) you can also duplicate your project to explore another 3 options before making your decision.
Can my partner or colleague sign-in to edit the projects in my account?
We don't technically support multiple different users signing in to one account just yet, however, if you are happy to share your login details, it is possible to share an account by signing in with the same credentials on another device.
Do I have to download the app?
With Reno, there's no need to download or install anything. It's a web app that runs straight from your browser on any device, making it simple and hassle-free to use. You can get started instantly, share it with a quick link, and it won't take up space on your phone. Best of all, it's always up to date, so you'll automatically have the latest features without ever needing to install updates.
Do I need an internet connection to use Reno?
Yes, Reno needs an internet connection as it's a web app (so your data is stored in the cloud and not locally on your device).
Reno works at its best on Wi-Fi or a strong stable mobile data connection, where you'll find everything smooth and responsive - from editing your floor plans to sharing and viewing designs.
If you're on a slower or unstable connection, like when roaming on 3G, you'll still be able to view and share your plans without trouble, but editing in the floor planner could sometimes feel a bit buggy. That's because a weak signal may delay saving your changes, making it look like something's updated when it hasn't quite gone through yet.
What devices and browsers does Reno work on?
Reno is a web app, so it works on all modern devices and browsers. We regularly test and guarantee full functionality on the latest versions of Chrome, Safari, Edge, and Firefox, as well as Safari on iOS (iPhone and iPad running iOS 15 or later) and Chrome on Android.
We also periodically spot-check older browser versions and different devices, so in most cases you'll still be fine if you're not on the very latest kit. That said, if you're using an older device or a less common browser and run into issues, the first thing to try is updating your browser. If that doesn't fix it, just get in touch and let us know (please send along details of the device, browser and versions) - we can usually resolve compatibility problems very quickly and easily.
Can I cancel my subscription?
Yes, you can cancel anytime. Cancelling your subscription stops it from renewing at the end of your current paid period - you won't be charged again. You'll still have full access to your account and projects until that period ends. After that, you can still sign in to Reno, but your projects will be locked until you choose to re-subscribe. If you do decide to come back later, everything will still be there waiting for you.
To cancel your subscription, go to your 'Projects' page and scroll to the 'Subscription' section where you can find details of your subscription plan, next renewal date and a button to 'Cancel or upgrade plan'.
Can I get a refund?
Our official terms and conditions cover homeowners (consumers) if you change your mind within 14 days (as long as you haven't already laid out and designed your room using the software), or if you've found a fault that we can't rectify.
However, we want everyone who uses Reno to feel good about their experience. So if something's not right, the best first step is to get in touch and let us know the details - we can usually resolve issues or make improvements really quickly based on your feedback - we'll always do our very best to make things right for you. And if we can't, then yes, we would of course offer a refund.
